Ian has received schooling at Glasgow Academy, Jordanhill College and Madras College, St. Andrews. He earned his law degree before studying for his postgraduate degree at Dundee. He trained in Edinburgh where he took an early partnership with a firm in Morayshire running the Elgin branch there.

He held a leadership position with MacDonalds Solicitors for 28 years prior to joining Austin Lafferty as a consultant in 2013.

With many years of diverse experience in legal practice, Ian has developed a wide client base and enjoys building strong relationships with his clients.

Ian is a keen rambler, avid reader, dog walker and family man. He dabbles in antiques and enjoys travel and sport.
